I was able to get the crew back together and make it to Shot all the way down in Orlando. People actually friggn' scheduled this time to we were some busy mo-fos! As usual, wish we had more time to see all the great new stuff. Youtube fortunately has HD capability now so look for "Watch in HD" in blue text under the video interface.

I slacked photos pretty hard, but here is a quick dump gallery for those interested:

As for the videos, I'm slammed work wise so if you want to see pretty thumbnails, just check out my youtube page: <MSM YOUTUBE PAGE>

Figure Out Your Load-Out <LINK>
Hey all, it's Slim. I'm back from my trip and I know you're damned glad to hear it. Feel free to rejoice. Sorry to leave you here all this time with just Swingin' Dick to entertain and educate you, but even an action figure deserves a little time off. I've been defending democracy and keeping the world safe for sheep so long I honestly didn't know what to do with myself the first couple of days on the beach. Anyway, Richard and I are happy to introduce our latest Guest Blogger; MilSpecMonkey himself! If you don't know yet who is, then you haven't done much searching for gear reviews or morale patches. He's the guy that designed the Admin Pouch that MaxPedition sells, and he also came up with the Major League Sniper, Major League Doorkicker, Tactical Trunk Monkey and other "morale" designs. (Which, by the way, Richard and I sell in our store.) How's that for shameless self promotion eh? Anyway, the Monkey has kindly written up a basic guide for selecting the right kit to hump your gear. If you're a grunt or a snake-eater or whatever, you probably know a lot of this, but you never know when you can pick something new up and it's a good reference for boots and newer operators. So, here he is, the Monkey:

I brought more Army Game buddies with me this year to try and step it up a notch. I didn't do as many photos, but made a mean batch of product video demos for you guys. As usual the shotshow experience is awesome, yet extremely tiring. In true Vegas spirit, half my crew almost didn't survive the Surefire party. I wish the show had more days so I could spend more time checking out all of the great stuff there.

5.11 is breaking out from mostly clothing to many tactical based items. I can't talk about everything they are up to, but check out the videos for their latest goodies.

UCP SUCKS (Universal Camo Pattern) RANT

UCP SUCKS (Universal Camo Pattern) RANT:
-
For starters I have to breakdown all the acronyms just to make sure you know what the hell I'm talking about. UCP stands for Universal Camo Pattern which is the pattern that the ACU, Army Combat Uniform, uses. Other variants I've seen to aid in confusion have been: ARPAT, AUC for Army Universal Camo or Digital Army Pattern / Army Digital Pattern. Most gear companies label their UCP gear ACU since it is a term most people know. Although ACU is the name of a uniform and not a color, it typically gets the point across. In the spirit of being most correct, I will use the term UCP when referring to the actual camo color.

Now back to my spiteful article, my main grief is with the color of UCP and not the ACU design itself. There is plenty to debate on how it compares to the BDU, but take in all the plusses and minuses and I feel ACU is in the right direction. UCP isn't necessarily a bad camouflage, but it is not qualified to do what is asked of it. I will start the party off with the main ACU press release article to quote: <link>

SHOTSHOW 2007
Took me a little bit, but here is a nice media dump of my recent shotshow adventure. Was great to meet a lot of digital personalities in person finally. I even snuck in some video interviews, sorry my gear wasn't the greatest, but I hope to improve camera and have a sound man next year. I'll start with youtube links, however will have higher res wmvs for those interested.

Aimpoint: New CompM4 and Micro T1

Comp M4 holds AA batteries for ease of compatibility and epic run times. The lil micro buddy is great for shotguns and pistols. A great compromise for size and viewspace.
