When getting into Night Vision gear you quickly learn the accessories also are very important and having a solid mount is a good example of this. Luckily also having the Team Wendy bump helmet it already had a NVG shroud so I was able to pop this Wilcox L4 G24 NVG-Mount right on in.
I've been rocking my old SureFire E1B backup light as a part of my EDC (every day carry) loadout for quite some time, but while wanting to try out using the Thyrm Switchback with it I was sad to see this model was not supported. Since Surefire doesn't make the E1B anymore this made sense design wise on the Switchback and ended up as a good excuse to try out the EB1. (Yes the names are a bit confusingly similar)

ITS Tactical has been around as a tactical resource site for a while now, and like us started to apply that knowledge to gear designs of their own. Phokus Research Group has been up to some crafty products for a while, one being their Sons Trauma Kit which offers an interesting alternative to traditional medical blow out kits. Rather than being a kit with a fancy pouch, the kit is shaped flat and slim sitting behind one's armor plate to make a great use of tactical space savings.
For any MIL / LE folks that had their eyes on the Sparrows Tuxedo Set, this new Sentry set is certainly worth looking into. The main upgrade is certainly the case where it is made to mount on both PALS and velcro. The unit comes with a long Malice clip for solid mounting and then the hook velcro spots on the back offer quick attachment to loop velcro that is commonly on tactical vests as well.
Thanks to ITS tactical I was able to get a crash course on basic lock picking and Sparrows was nice enough to get a starter set my way to play with. This "Tuxedo" set includes 6 tools and 6 tension wrenches with a bonus little case. I still have plenty to learn, but from what I know so far, lock picking is quite the interesting skill set combining technical knowledge with hand finesse dexterity. Although most pickers will have favored tools, the benefit of having a some sort of set becomes very apparent when working with lock variety. Lock sizes from smaller padlocks to common house locks can vary greatly so having the right size tool speeds up the process quite a bit and in tough cases it makes picking possible at all.
SKD TAC continues to bang out goodies on their PIG line with one of their latest being an assault sized hydration pouch. The approach is very streamlined and lightweight weighing only about 5 ounces with a compact shape. Offhand made to fit the Source WXP 2L Hydration Bladder, other similar sized/shaped hydration bladders will fit in just fine. Since not as wide as the norm, it allows mounting to a vest with plenty of room for other team gear pouches. A great feature is that wide elastic is integrated to help keep a full bladder more flat and even rather than a sad bottom heavy sack.
