Have a fancy knife and sheath, but not quite sure how to mount it to your belt? Then the MatchPoint USA AMP - Accessory Mounting Plate is worth checking out.
There are some decent sheath attachment options out there like Malice Clips and Blade-Tech Tek-Lok setups, but they don't always have the spacing needed or allow for desired mounting rotation. This is where the MatchPoint USA AMP series comes in handy to offer more mounting options. The basic idea is the platform is a matrix of .215" holes spaced at 3/8" (hole center to hole center) that has belt loop slots on the ends; currently in 1.75" and 1.5" slot sizes. Overall size is approx 6.375" x 2.375" at .2" thickness, and hole matrix zone being about 5" long. The 1.5" version is very similar to the 1.75" version, just with tapered down slots at the end. MatchPoint calls the material Tufmax 720 which is on the stiffer side, but does offer good durability and flex to conform to one's body. Rigidity can be a tricky decision as too rigid just won't contour to anything while too flexible will cause your gear to be floppy. I think MatchPoint made a reasonable balance on the AMP finding somewhere in the middle.
Luckily most kydex gear comes with a decent selection of hardware, however depending on the original intended platform you may need to get some more mounting hardware to get in a preferred fit. This isn't to say the AMP is an odd thickness, it is a reminder it comes with no additional hardware though. For first time setup the AMP was fairly intuitive, but it did take some trial and error to dial in an end result I was happy with. Starting with how best to mount a sheath, usually not all mounting holes are going to line up perfectly so one has to decide if a slightly different angle is ok and how many mount screws to use. I was initially looking for strength so tried to get on as many screws as possible and spread out, yet then I noticed it then made the AMP very difficult to bend with my body when worn. As a result I found it was easier to get a flex if mounting more to a side of the AMP instead of right in the middle and didn't worry about going screw crazy. Worth noting, the AMP offers enough length where one can get fancy and mount 2 smaller sheaths or pouches.
While mount testing I was overall pleased with the sheath compatibility since I was able to mount an assortment that had varied materials and no super standard screw-hole placement. I couldn't always get the exact angle or screw placement I wanted, but it tended to always been good enough. After the mounting was decided, the next step is actually getting it on a belt. The AMP flex seems not super hard to bend in hand, yet once on a belt it can seem a bit more rigid thus having a substantial duty belt can make curving it a little easier and even then the tightness of the belt is a big factor as well. A semi AMP down side is mounting to a belt isn't a super speedy operation where you have to do a bit of pre-planning on how to weave it through the AMP and your pant belt loops. In the grand scheme of things this is not super time intensive or "hard", just people don't always like to fuss with belt stuff when changing pants.
Since the AMP is a symmetrical design this can make position experimenting a little easier such as the ability to go from outside belt to inside belt positioning. Inside belt placement isn't quite inside the waistband when it comes to concealment, but nice to have the additional options that can change how the AMP feels and positions while worn. So far I'm liking the AMP platforms when it comes to offering some flexible mounting solutions. They aren't quite as compact as a connection system that is super specific purpose built, however offers some great options to get creative with mounting an assortment of tactical gear.
Although made with knife sheaths in mind, one can mount any accessory that will fit including holsters and other pouch accessories which MatchPoint USA just happens to offer.
