Revision Desert Locust Military Goggles

Details
Category: Protective
Created: Friday, 23 February 2007 05:06

Revision hooked me up with a pair of these goggles at shotshow. I haven't made it to a base trip yet, but I have been wearing them off and on and I did send a coworker with them to a SFAUC trip. He was quite happy with them and did not fog despite near freezing weather. My impressions so far: These are a great size delivering protection with as much field of view possible. Kit comes with carry bag that has a pocket for a spare lens, in this case the tinted one and a cover sock was also included. The Desert Locust is one of the easiest goggles to change lenses out of.

MAXPEDITION Rolly Poly Dump Pouch :

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Wednesday, 14 February 2007 07:09

DIM: 3"H x 3"W x 1.5"D folded, 6" DIA x 8"H unfolded, 190 cu. in.
Although these pouches have been around for a bit, that doesn't make them any less cool. The big point that sets this dump pouch away from others is its foldup ability. This is a great feature since most of the time a dump pouch will be unfilled when on one's kit.

MAXPEDITION Mini Rolly Poly Dump Pouch :

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Wednesday, 14 February 2007 07:09

DIM: 3.5"H x 2.25"W x 1.5"D folded, 4" DIA x 8"H unfolded, 100 cu. in.
The mini has all the great features of the standard rolly poly, however is a smaller cut to fit Nalgene containers and water bottles. When filling the pouch to its max, closure is by using the cord locks to close the opening around the top of the container rather than using the main flap. When not used for liquid containers, the pouch is great for anything else you can fit in there such as shell casings. A black mesh version exists which is lighter and allows contents of the pouch to be seen. Currently available in OD, Khaki, Black, ACU. Malice clips not included. Check out the animated gif link for a quick foldup demo.

Mister big boy Mega here also has all the same core dump pouch features and more. Despite the obvious change, that it is freakn' BIG, there is a removable leg strap included to help secure and stabalize once deployed.

KP Industries Tactical Ultra Flex III Knee Pads

Category: Protective

So although I didn't "need" any new pads I thought I'd check out these fancy pants KP industries knee pads. The 2 piece hinged system looked like a good way to get full knee motion range without resistance. Not too long ago I took them to put them through a quick beating on my SFAUC visit. Beforehand, First impressions out of the box were a little so-so since the way they are stored, one pad pushed in on another in a mesh bag, causes 1 pad to be bent in a bit and one pad to be bent out.

KP Industries Tactical Elbow Pads

The KP elbow pads didn't impress me as much as the knee pads, but that doesn't necessarily make them bad pads. The main reason external elbow pads are rarely used in the military is that the upper strap almost always falls in the elbow joint and causes abrasion and or resistance everytime the arm is bent in. Since the KP elbow pads are not on the hinge system they suffer from this upper strap problem. Furthermore, since I'm <monkey> sized, I have to tighten the straps near as far as they can go. This causes the triglide to be all up in my inner arm joint adding to the strap problem.

EMDOM Recon Waist Bag MC:

DIM: 11" x 7" x 4" main, 6" x 4" x 2" front, 8" x 4" back
Fanny Packs, Waist Bags, Hip Packs...they come in many names and hit with fury in the 90s, but this one has a lot of nice MIL touches. In planning that the user wouldn't be a typical dad on a lazy vacation, the pouch is built to push the items away from your groin area to allow for greater mobility and prevent man part pounding.

EMDOM CQB M4 Double Mag Pouch MC:

DIM: ADJ" x 3" x 2"
There are a lot of double mag pouches out there, but this one has some solid bonus features. For starters there are PALS loops on the front so one can mount pistol mag pouches, but these loops also assist in setting up a shock cord mag holding system. The main flap can be totally removed or have its placement adjusted to hold pretty much every kind of mag out there no matter what added accessory. Interior elastic allows one to fold the flap for a secure open pouch setup. I've embarrassingly shown it here holding a Nintendo-DS, but check out Emdom or Military Moron's site for many great bullet tote'n pics. Comes with long Malice Clips.

EMDOM Fattie Wide Load MP Pouch MC:

DIM: 12" x 7" x 6"
If you are looking for a pouch to hold more than the typical ones out there, this is the business right here. A great size to enhance backpack capability or make a mean butt pack. SRBs with velcro adjustment make flattening and expanding the pack easy and there is bonus loop velcro on the front for name tapes.
